Teens
Teenagers have a complicated world to navigate, from growing up with social media, friendship issues, low self-esteem and the effects of experiencing a global pandemic. As a qualified therapist I can offer a space for teenagers to speak freely without fear of judgment about what is bothering them. From my experience it can often be easier for a teenager to talk to someone who is not their parent, friend, or teacher. I can be their sounding board to help them navigate their emotions.

What to expect as a parent…
Teen counselling offers a space for your teen to offload, and sometimes be provided with tools to build resilience and coping strategies to navigate life’s complexities. I will maintain your teens confidentiality only breaking if I feel they are at immediate risk of harm. As a parent myself, I completely understand the challenge and frustration this may bring, but I assure you that I will always have your child’s best interest in my decision making and if necessary I will liaise with other health professionals if needed.
What to expect as a teen…
Firstly, well done for reaching out to have counselling! It can be a scary, but very brave step forward. The first session will involve going though a form to work out what brings you to counselling and how I can best support you. After this, the counselling room is for YOU! You can bring anything you feel comfortable with.
Everything you say will be kept confidential unless I feel you are at immediate risk of harm, on the rare occasion, I will have to pass on my concern.
